there's no such thing as too much color.

jim henson once said, "my hope still is to leave the world a bit better than when i got here." we hope that, too.

Shay Ometz and Jeff Barfoot are the cofounders of bee things, where they make art prints and posters, apparel, and products for the home.

Jim Henson once said, “My hope still is to leave the world a bit better than when I got here.” Shay and Jeff love to make things that make them happy, and they hope their work makes people out in the world a bit happier, too. Their use of bright color, patterns, and simple images reflects that sense of optimism.

The husband and wife team’s mid-century modern home and their work have been featured by Fab, HGTV Magazine, ReadyMade Magazine, The Dallas Morning News, D Home Magazine, The Working Proof, and the popular blog design*sponge.

They have been making prints and home goods together as bee things since 2007, and have done illustration and design projects for AT&T, Crate and Barrel, Papyrus Recycled Greetings, The New York Times, Neiman Marcus, Nickelodeon, Fossil, The Land of Nod, the National Audubon Society, Parragon Books, Publix, Sally Beauty Supply, and Sappi Paper, among others. Their design and illustration work have been recognized by most major design competitions and publications, including Communication Arts, the Art Directors Club of New York, Graphis, Print magazine, the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), the One Show, and the American Advertising Federation.

Jeff and Shay live and work in Dallas, Texas, with their two moppy-haired sons and two mini weenie dogs, all four of which eat their food and hog their couch.
